Digital Citizenship

There are many names that it can go by, but whether you call it E-Safety, Cyber safety or Digital Citizenship a common element of responsibility entwines through it all. As I have said in previous blogs, I’m a strong believer that all concept development and elements of technology start young.  As educators we have a responsibility to empower our students with the skills and mindset needed to successfully and safely interact with the digital tools in their lives.

There are many government sponsored programs in existence, again, all of which mirror a similar message. Below is an outline of resources that I have found useful when setting up programs for our infant students.

Resources

1. Hector the safety dolphin – Learn about the safety button here.

2. Being confident in knowing some simple steps – Zip it, Block it, Flag it!

3. Picture books are a great way to teach children about this difficult concept
